The following questions cover some of our basic concerns that we feel are important to understand when we consider a family for adopting a puppy or adult from CBWags4u Dachsies. 

Please also note that our litters are pre planned, and our puppy availability is dependent on our planned schedule -  so if you desire a puppy from CBWags4u Dachsies it will be important to open a discussion regarding placement, have the adoption information approved, and to be on our waiting list.

We are selective in placing our puppies in the proper home environment, and reserve the right to refuse placement based upon our instinct and validation of the information provided.  Some of the questions that we ask are to provide us with background information that will help us to help you in raising your new family addition. 

Please give careful thought to each question and provide your answers by copying the questions to an email bw@cbwags4udachsies.com or using the word document we have created which can be attached to either an email or sent via USPS mail.

It is our firm policy that when we place a puppy in your home the opportunity is provided to you for our lifelong support, and your personal information is retained in your puppy files with your purchase contract for our viewing only.

• Whom may we thank for a reference or how did you find CBWags4u Dachsies?

• Describe how you or your family have planned for the emotional and financial responsibility of owning a dog.

• Do you work outside the home, and how long will you be leaving your pet alone every day? 

• What is your or your family or personal lifestyle, and how will the Dachshund companion fit into your lifestyle?

• Are there children in your home?  We ask that adults make sure that small children are always supervised with pets - for safety of both the child & the pet.

• What type of information have you used in deciding to select the Dachshund breed for a pet?

• What information have you read or what is you personal knowledge about Miniature Dachshunds?

• Do you own or rent your residence?  If you are renting we will need a statement from your landlord regarding the acceptance of pets - including multiple pets if you are adopting an additional pet.
  
• Are you moving in the near future?  Please provide us with your new full address including the new street, city, and zip code.

• Name of Veterinarian and contact phone number.  If you are adopting for the first time you may want to take some time to interview local Veterinarians and schedule your first appointment which is required 72 hrs after you adopt one of our Miniature Dachshunds.

• How many pets other than this puppy will live in the residence, and what kind of pets do you presently own?

• Are there any family members that have severe allergies, and if so are you certain that dog dander is not an allergen that will cause health issues?

• Do you have a secure area in your home for the puppy when not supervised?

• Do you have a fenced in yard or secure method for puppy to go outside?

• Will you be able to provide at a minimum 30 minutes of exercise and play for the pet?

• Have you ever house trained a dog?

• Have you ever crate trained a dog?

• Have you considered obedience training such as a “puppy class”?

• Are you considering AKC events – conformation, obedience, agility, rally, or earth dog/field trials?

• Do you understand the difference between AKC registrations - Full or Limited?

• Are you considering breeding this puppy?

• Have you ever surrendered a pet, and what were the circumstances?
